Senior IBM z/OS System Engineer – Remote (US Only) Company: AI Talent Hunt Location: Remote Job Type: Full-Time Contract (11 Months) Rate: Up to $45/hour (Depending on Experience) Openings: 10 Interview Timeline: Approximately 2 Weeks Allowed Visa Types: TN or USC only (Do not support: Stem opt, H1b, GC etc.) Job Description We are seeking an experienced z/OS System Engineer to join a large enterprise project. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM z/OS environments, system software installation, migrations, and mainframe administration. Responsibilities • Install and maintain IBM and ISV products using SMP/E (RECEIVE, APPLY, ACCEPT) and non-SMP/E methods. • Perform PTF/APAR management, CSI management, and zone maintenance across development and production LPARs. • Manage and update critical system control datasets including LNKLST (LINKLIST), APF-authorized libraries, IEASYSxx, and IEAPARMxx. • Execute z/OS release-to-release migrations using CBPDO/ServerPac workflows or zOSMF Software Management. • Perform pre/post-migration validation, coexistence PTF implementation, and fallback planning. • Utilize IBM zOSMF for software deployment, software instance management, workflows, and system health checks. • Implement system-level changes while following enterprise change management procedures. • Conduct impact analysis, regression testing, and maintain system integrity across multi-LPAR sysplex environments. Requirements Required Skills • Strong experience with IBM z/OS administration. • Hands-on expertise with SMP/E product installation and maintenance. • Experience managing LINKLIST, APF, and Parmlib configurations. • Knowledge of z/OS migrations and upgrades. • Experience with IBM zOSMF. • Excellent troubleshooting and change management skills.
