As part of this team, you will help shape the API platform strategy and operating model that powers Walmart Marketplace. You will plays a critical role in ensuring APIs are consistent, secure, reliable, and easy to adopt across Walmart.
Role and Responsibilities of Product Manager Principal:
In this role, you will own the API platform product direction and drive cross-team alignment to ensure scalable, secure, and developer-friendly integrations. You will lead governance, launch readiness, and platform enablement initiatives that support internal stakeholders and external developers.
⢠Own the API platform product strategy and evolve core platform components including gateway capabilities, security controls, rate limiting, telemetry/observability, and internal API management tooling.
⢠Define and operationalize API governance and lifecycle standards, including API design standards, documentation quality, production launch readiness, and change communication practices.
⢠Partner with domain product and engineering teams to align cross-team roadmaps and ensure consistent API delivery across business areas.
⢠Lead API launch enablement by embedding go-to-market planning and adoption measurement into every release.
⢠Serve as the central API product subject matter expert and point of contact for internal stakeholders and external developers.
⢠Drive cross-functional alignment through structured problem-solving, clear writing, and strong stakeholder communication.
⢠Translate technical concepts into business priorities, tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes for non-technical audiences.
Required Skills and Experience of Product Manager Principal:
⢠Strong platform product management experience with demonstrated ability to define standards and influence multiple teams without direct authority.
⢠Deep knowledge of API ecosystems and developer needs, including API usability, documentation quality, onboarding, and integration best practices.
⢠Excellent stakeholder leadership and communication skills.
⢠Proven execution discipline and program ownership with experience aligning cross-team roadmaps and driving production launches.
⢠Structured problem-solving skills and sound judgment to navigate ambiguity and resolve conflicts.
⢠Option 1: Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area and 9 yearsâ experience in product management.
⢠Option 2: 11 yearsâ experience in product management or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
⢠Masterâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related area and 8 yearsâ experience as a product manager working on consumer-facing, large-scale, highly complex B2B/C products.
⢠Supervisory experience.
⢠Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
⢠Knowledge of assistive technologies and digital accessibility best practices aligned with accessibility standards and guidelines.
⢠Masterâs degree in Business Administration, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Compensation and Benefits of Product Manager Principal:
⢠Annual salary range: $143,000.00-$286,000.00.
⢠Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
⢠Additional compensation for certain positions may include stock.
