Engineering Manager
Responsible for performing engineering assignments ranging from limited scope and complexity to advanced engineering projects requiring expertise in multiple disciplines. Works under varying levels of supervision depending on experience, with increasing independence at higher levels. Assist with project management, negotiations, performance tracking and reporting. Responsibilities may include planning, organizing, and managing engineering projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading technical teams. Engages in decision-making, technical analysis, project coordination, and engineering oversight, with a focus on utility-scale solar, BESS, and power plant operations. Can also work as an extension of the engineering team, ensuring designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and long-term performance and reliability goals.
Specialized Engineering Functions (will be mentioned as per requirement):
Electrical/I&C Engineering: Electric distribution system, Power systems, ladder logic, safe shutdown analysis, computational tools (ETAP, EDISON). Mechanical Engineering: Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pipe stress analysis, ASME standards. Civil/Structural Engineering: Designs and manages civil infrastructure components, including foundations, site grading, and drainage systems - Seismic qualification, pipe supports, GT Strudel, welding, rigging. MOV Valve Engineering: Diagnostics, troubleshooting, valve program management.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Professional Engineering (PE) certification strongly preferred.
Relevant Experience:
15+ years of experience planning, designing, and executing large-scale energy projects, including solar, BESS, wind, and hydrogen systems.
Responsibilities:
Provides high-level oversight of engineering and project execution, negotiates technical and regulatory requirements, and influences executive-level project decisions. Leads multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensures compliance with industry standards, and optimizes technical designs for energy infrastructure. Acts as the technical authority on engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements. Provides high-level expertise in system design, grid optimization, and technical risk management. Works closely with customer leadership to guide engineering strategies, solve complex challenges, and ensure long-term infrastructure resilience.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects.
• Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency.
• Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions.
• Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts.
• Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers.
• Influence project teams on engineering tasks.
• Stay updated on project progress and technical issues.
• Manage project milestones and recognize risks.
• Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment.
• Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls.
• Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions.
• Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
• Handle other assigned duties as needed.
• Travel 25% of the time for project specific duties.
Preferred Experience
• 3+ Years experience Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction.
• Expertise in one or more of these areas: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design.
• Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections).
• Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730.
• Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
