Job Description

Software Engineer — Full-Stack, Workflows & Public Sector ApplicationsAbout OlenArc OlenArc is a U.S.-based digital transformation and AI implementation company helping federal, Tribal, public-sector, nonprofit, and Native-serving organizations modernize their data, workflows, dashboards, reporting systems, and service delivery tools. Previously known as Arcnito, our team grew out of Alaska’s Arctic Slope, where Arcnito was recognized as the North Slope region’s first AI-enabled startup and won first place in Alaska’s inaugural AI Pitch Showcase. Today, OlenArc focuses on practical digital transformation: cleaning and connecting data, building dashboards, automating reporting, improving workflows, and helping organizations adopt AI in useful, responsible ways. We are building a bench of technical collaborators for upcoming government, Tribal, nonprofit, and federal subcontracting opportunities. About the Role We are looking for a Software Engineer with full-stack experience to help build web applications, dashboards, workflow tools, APIs, and AI-enabled systems for public-sector and community-serving projects. This role is a good fit for someone who can work across frontend, backend, data integrations, and cloud deployment. You do not need to be a deep AI researcher, but you should be comfortable building practical software systems that may connect with AI tools, dashboards, databases, and external APIs. You will work closely with our project leads, UX designers, data engineers, AI engineers, and other developers to turn real-world workflows into usable software. We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, communicative, and comfortable working in a small technical team where responsibilities may cross frontend, backend, integrations, and deployment. Responsibilities Depending on the project, you may help with: • Build and maintain web applications, dashboards, portals, and workflow tools • Develop frontend interfaces for internal staff, public users, or community-facing platforms • Build backend APIs, database models, and application logic • Implement role-based access control, user permissions, and account management • Integrate third-party APIs, data sources, forms, and external systems • Support dashboard, reporting, intake, referral, and program management workflows • Work with data engineers to connect clean data structures to usable applications • Work with UX designers to translate workflow maps and wireframes into functioning software • Support AI-assisted features such as report generation, document search, summarization, or workflow automation • Deploy and maintain applications on AWS or related cloud infrastructure • Troubleshoot bugs, improve performance, and document technical decisions • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical team members Example project areas may include: • Grant reporting dashboards • Community health or outreach platforms • Intake and referral tracking systems • Public service or community resource hubs • AI-assisted reporting tools • Internal operations dashboards • Data-driven workflow applications • API integrations and data synchronization tools • Role-based portals for staff, partners, or community users Qualifications We are looking for someone with experience in some of the following: • Full-stack web application development • JavaScript / TypeScript • React, Next.js, Vue, or similar frontend frameworks • Node.js, Python, or similar backend technologies • REST APIs and third-party integrations • SQL and relational databases • PostgreSQL, MySQL, Supabase, DynamoDB, or similar databases • Authentication, user management, and role-based access control • AWS deployment and cloud infrastructure basics • Git, GitHub, and collaborative development workflows • Building dashboards, admin panels, portals, or internal tools • Working with real-world business, government, nonprofit, or operational workflows • Clear communication and ability to work with designers, data engineers, and project leads Nice to have: • Experience with AWS Amplify, Lambda, S3, Cognito, API Gateway, or related AWS services • Experience building data dashboards or reporting tools • Experience with AI / LLM integrations, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, or similar tools • Experience with document processing, search, or RAG-style applications • Experience with secure data handling and privacy-conscious development • Experience with government, nonprofit, healthcare, Tribal, or public-sector projects • Experience building intake systems, referral workflows, case tracking tools, or grant reporting systems • Familiarity with accessibility and user-friendly design for non-technical users What Success Looks Like A strong candidate can take a workflow, wireframe, or technical requirement and help turn it into working software. You should be able to help answer questions like: • What is the simplest reliable way to build this workflow? • What data model does this application need? • How should user roles and permissions work? • What APIs or integrations are required? • How should the frontend connect to the backend? • How can this be deployed and maintained safely? • What needs to be documented so another developer can continue the work? • How can we build this in a way that supports future AI or reporting features? Location & Work Arrangement This is a remote, contract / project-based role, with preference for candidates based in North America. OlenArc operates remotely with a presence in Arizona and active project relationships across Alaska, Tribal and Native-serving communities, nonprofits, and broader U.S. public-sector networks. Most collaboration will happen remotely through online meetings, shared documents, project management tools, GitHub, and development workflows. Occasional availability for partner meetings, conferences, or in-person collaboration in Arizona, Alaska, or other U.S. locations may be helpful but is not required unless tied to a specific project. Engagement Type This is a contract / project-based role with flexible part-time hours, typically estimated at 10–20 hours per week, depending on project needs. We are building a bench of qualified collaborators for upcoming government, Tribal, nonprofit, and federal subcontracting opportunities. Some projects may begin quickly, while others may depend on contract timelines, teaming arrangements, or awarded work. This role may involve collaborating with senior engineers, junior developers, UX designers, data engineers, and AI engineers depending on the project. Compensation Compensation is expected to range from $45–$90 per hour, depending on experience, availability, project scope, and contract requirements. Higher rates may be considered for candidates with strong full-stack, AWS, public-sector, data dashboard, workflow automation, or AI integration experience. This role does not include traditional employee benefits at this stage, but offers flexible scheduling, remote collaboration, and the opportunity to be considered for future government, Tribal, nonprofit, and federal subcontracting projects. Work Authorization Candidates must currently be authorized to work in the United States for this contract role. Visa sponsorship is not available for this contract role at this time. Future employment opportunities, including potential sponsorship consideration, may be evaluated based on performance, business needs, project requirements, and role fit. How to Apply Please include: • Your resume or LinkedIn profile • A short note about your full-stack development experience • Examples of relevant web apps, dashboards, portals, API integrations, or workflow tools • Your experience with AWS or cloud deployment • Your availability and preferred work arrangement • Your expected hourly or project-based rate Bonus: Tell us about a software project where you had to turn a messy real-world workflow into a usable application. Equal Opportunity OlenArc welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds. We are especially interested in collaborators who are thoughtful, practical, reliable, and comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams. Pay: $45.00 - $90.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
