Sr RPG Developer / Engineer using AI Tools to Analyze Code

Job Title: Senior RPG Developer Location: Hartford, CT (Preferred) | Remote considered for exceptional candidates Type: Contract long-term (Potential Contract-to-Hire) Overview Seeking a senior IBM i / AS400 RPG Developer/Engineer with deep hands-on RPG experience who can independently work in complex legacy environments. High-performing developers who know RPG inside and out, and enjoy solving problems in legacy environments. Candidates should be proactive, accountable, and motivated to improve systems and development practices. Experience leveraging AI tools to improve development efficiency and analyze legacy RPG code. Key Requirements • 10+ RPG development experience • Strong expertise in RPG III / RPG IV / RPGLE (Free Format) • Experience with CL / CLLE and DB2 for i / SQL • Ability to analyze, maintain, and enhance complex legacy RPG applications • Strong troubleshooting and production support skills • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of deliverables • Familiarity with tools such as Aldon, MKS Implementer, Git, X-Analysis, or Hawkeye Preferred (candidates with this experience will be immediately considered): • Use of AI tools to improve development productivity • Use of AI tools to analyze legacy code more efficiently • Experience modernizing or optimizing IBM i / RPG applications Examples of common AI tools for RPG productivity and legacy code analysis: AI Coding Assistants: • GitHub Copilot , ChatGPT / GPT tools, Claude, Tabnine Legacy Code Analysis / Modernization • X-Analysis, ARCAD
